In 1839 the American Minister in Paris was directed to buy 300 French Model 1829 Artillery Sabers for possible adoption by the US. In August 1840 the Ordinance Dept. purchased 500 of this pattern saber from S&K in Solingen, Prussia. Later it was made by Ames Mfg. Co. The blade is polished spring steel . The hilt solid brass. The grip is wood covered with leather and wire bound. Our replica comes with a polished steel scabbard. Overall length is 37 1/4" and the blade length is 31 6/8".ouT of STOCK
