Edward I, the Hammer of the Scots, was a true warrior king bent on conquest. In 1296 he invaded Scotland and confronted the Scot King, John de Baliol. Although the famous longbowmen were present at this bloody battle, they did not play a significant role. Instead, the conflict was won by the mailed knight and by heavy fighting. The Scots fought hard and long, yet in the end they lost. It is in honor of this battle that we have named this sword, since it is of a type carried by both sides. This is the characteristic knightly sword of the period. The blade has but a little taper and ends in a good point. The flat blade has a small fuller that runs about three quarters of the way down. Tough, high carbon steel gives great strength to the blade. Grip is wood, wrapped with leather. Both guard and pommel are blackened steel. The pommel has a nickel silver insert which can easily be engraved with your own coat of arms, or whatever symbol you desire. A first class fighting weapon. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts®. NO SCABBARD INCLUDED. Overall-40" *** Blade-33 1/4" long, 1 7/8" wide *** Wt. 3 lbs.
